Swami Yatiswarananda (1889–1966) was a disciple of Swami Brahmananda. He came to Europe at the invitation of Mr. W. Koch and did seven years of pioneering work in spreading Vedanta in Europe and ten years of teaching Vedanta in USA. He was going from city to city , from Warsaw to Madrid, rousing interest in Vedanta. He set up his central ashrama for activities in Europe at Engadin of Switzerland. Mr. Koch who would become a member of the Committee of the would be Centre Vedantique in Geneva, extended his support for the Swami’s activities in Geneva and other important cities of Switzerland. The ashrama at Engadin existed for some five years till the beginning of World War II when the Swami left Europe for the USA. He returned from USA to India and headed a few centers there. Finally he became the Vice-President of the Ramakrishna Order and Ramakrishna Mission. He was famous for his meditative life, spiritual attainment and yogic insight.
